Biography
Dr. Matthew Mukherjee brings over 15 years of experience as a gastroenterologist, having dedicated himself to providing exceptional care to his patients. He spent the past 12 years practicing in Long Beach, where he also held the role of Medical Director at the GI Lab at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
Educational Journey
Dr. Mukherjee’s journey began in Michigan, where he grew up and subsequently graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He then pursued his medical degree at Wayne State University in Detroit. His internship and residency were completed at Albert Einstein-Montefiore Medical Center in New York. Dr. Mukherjee further honed his expertise during his time as Chief Fellow at the gastroenterology fellowship program at Long Island College Hospital.
Board Certification and Professional Affiliations:
A testament to his commitment to excellence, Dr. Mukherjee is board-certified in gastroenterology. He holds a fellowship with the American College of Gastroenterology and is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Mukherjee’s clinical focus spans a wide range of specialties within gastroenterology. He is skilled in performing GI consultations and is experienced in endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, small bowel capsule endoscopy, and biliary endoscopy (ERCP). His professional interests include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), irritable bowel syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and colon cancer prevention.
