For over nineteen years, the San Diego County Medical Society has recognized physicians who are held in the highest regard by their peers. Votes and nominations are open to all physicians in San Diego. Physicians are asked to vote for those within and outside their own specialty and through this process physicians and specialists are chosen as Top Docs.

Dr. Robert Goldklang, who has been named a Top Doctor multiple years, holds board certification in both internal medicine and gastroenterology. He was previously president of the San Diego GI Society and has served on the professional conduct committee of the San Diego County Medical Society. He is also vice president of Scripps Mercy Physician Partners.

Genesis Healthcare Partner’s radiation oncology team includes three board-certified radiation oncologists who have been named Top Doctors.

Dr. Siavosh Vakilian specializes in treating brain, central nervous system, head and neck, pulmonary, and hematological cancers. His current clinical focus is the treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors with CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery. He’s helped run several clinical trials and authored several publications.

Dr. Reza Shirazi provides expertise in CyberKnife stereotactic radiosurgery; image-guided radiotherapy for treatment of prostate, breast, pancreas, GI, and skin tumors; and Barrigel and SpaceOar for selected prostate cancer patients. He is the former chair of American Cancer Society San Diego County and active member of the research arm of Genesis Healthcare Partners.

Dr. Tahir Ijaz has nearly 30 years of clinical experience and was previously in academic practice as an instructor and faculty member at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He specializes in the treatment of head and neck, brain, breast, and lung cancers and is trained in the use of CyberKnife stereotactic body therapy and intensity modulated radiotherapy.
