Youssef S. Tanagho, MD, is to be Recognized as a 2022 Top Doctor in San Diego

Youssef S. Tanagho, MD, Urologist with Genesis Healthcare Partners, an affiliate of Unio Health Partners in San Diego, has been named a 2022 Top Doctor in San Diego. For over 18 years, the San Diego County Medical Society has recognized physicians who are held in the highest regard by their peers. The Top Doctors Award is dedicated to selecting and honoring those healthcare practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional clinical excellence, while delivering the highest standards of patient care.

Dr. Youssef S. Tanagho is a highly respected and experienced physician, having been in practice for many years. Dr. Tanagho completed his pre-medical training at Stanford University, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Biological Sciences and Anthropology, as well as a master’s degree in Anthropology, at Stanford. He graduated from Stanford with academic distinction and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa chapter of Stanford University. Dr Tanagho then went on to earn a Master of Public Health Degree from Harvard School of Public Health and graduated with his Medical Degree in 2005 from Dartmouth Medical School. Thereafter, he completed his internship and extensive residency training with Case Western Reserve/University Hospitals Case Medical Center. Driven to further his knowledge and expertise, Dr. Tanagho undertook his Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine.
At an early age, Dr. Tanagho felt he would pursue a career in medicine. He knew early that he wanted to become a person whose life work would fulfill a mission, desiring to be involved in people’s lives and health.
Commenting on how he approaches patient care, Dr. Tanagho states, “I view my patients not as cases or appointments, but as individuals with real concerns and anxiety. My role is to alleviate their anxiety by addressing their unique concerns and recommending a course of action to improve their quality of life. Healing occurs not just in the operating room but in the course of a trusting relationship established between a patient and physician.”

For almost two decades, the San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS) has worked collaboratively with San Diego Magazine to recognize physicians who are held in the highest regard by their peers. Votes and nominations are open to all physicians in San Diego. The voting physicians are asked to vote for physicians within and outside their specialty to whom they would refer their friends and family.
